The Brief:
Eria Fachin was born in Hamilton, Ontario and gigged with the McMaster Jazz Band across Canada in the early 1980s. She released her first pop recordings on the indie Power label in 1986. An Atlantic Records subsidiary label, Critique Records, signed her and released the single and her only LP ‘My Name Is Eria Fachin’ in 1987-88 in the US. I have always considered this song and “Say It Say It” by EG Daily to be part of numerous attempts in the mid 80’s to mimic Madonna’s singing and production style that generated so many hits for her at that time. That isn’t a knock on either of those songs as I dearly loved them then and now. Sadly, Eria lost a battle with cancer in 1996 and is no longer with us.

One of my fave HiNRG tracks…. Thank you!
A one minor-hit wonder.
Thanks Richie for ripping this and posting.
Love the 12″ remix!
I haven’t heard the extended Dance Mix before… thank you
i dunno about being ‘madonna-ish’
but
one story i heard (in a UK record shop that was aimed at dj’s)
was that this record helped ‘Spagna – Call Me’ be a hit
people would ask for ‘that one about a telephone’ – and would be played a ‘new ish’ tune ie ‘Call Me’ (Eria’s record was one of those ‘constant’ sellers – just not enough 2 jump chart wise)
and when the customers asked 2 hear it
‘no not that one but i’ll buy anyway’ was heard often enough to help the early sales of ‘Call me’
