The Brief:
Erasure is the third successful venture for Vince Clarke following his stint as a founding member of Depeche Mode and Yazoo or Yaz (depending on what country you are from). Erasure was formed as a duo featuring Clarke and Andy Bell who Clarke found by placing a want ad in Melody Maker magazine. Today’s 12″ post features the song “Chains Of Love” which came from Erasure’s 1988 album ‘The Innocents’. It was the second of three singles released from the LP.

Saw them in concert about 3 or so years ago and was extremely suprised how good Andy Bell sounded… while singing. In between songs he spoke/joked around with the crowd but seemed like he could never catch his breath. He sounded like that Florida trash who interrupted the Casey Anthony case on Friday. I heard he has an illness, so maybe that was part of it. Either way, when he sang he gave 200%.
