“Parents Just Don’t Understand” was the lead single from rap music’s first double-vinyl LP release ‘He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper’ by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince in 1988. The song and video received airplay on radio and MTV gaining wide exposure for the rap duo.

A classic song – thanks!
I heard this song for the first time in years…sort of…on a recent rerun of Parks and Recreation. The brilliant Amy Poehler launches into this song when her boss comes into her office and says, “Okay, here’s the situation”.
She then breaks into the rest of the 3rd verse section, acapella, for about a minute. Good stuff.
