The A Side:
Swoop (I’m Yours) 8:30
The B Side:
Joystick (Vocal) 6:13
The Brief:
Doesn’t matter which side you drop the needle on this record, you’re going to hear some infectious, early 80’s R&B that will get your feet tappin’, your hips shakin’ and your ass wigglin’. Both tracks on this 12” were charting songs for the Dazz Band from their 1983 LP ‘Joystick’. Each side was mixed by F. Byron Clark, a recording engineer who worked with many artists including Morris Day, Patrice Rushen, Mavis Staples and Tina Turner.

Sorry, no
You’re on fire right now djrichiep with all of these old school R&B jams! Thanks a lot for taking the time to rip and share music from your collection with us.
You’re welcome, it is a pleasure.
I am more familiar with Let It Whip and Let It All Blow.
It’s revision time for Joystick (great title!) and discovery time for Swoop.
Thanks Richie!
Swoop is a huge Dazz band fave of mine, I expect you will enjoy it.
Thanks, Richie! I’m a huge Dazz Band fan. Love both of these two. Now I just need some vinyl rips of the On the One, Joystick, and Jukebox albums.
Great post!
I have the Joystick LP in the cabinet. Haven’t ever recorded it, I’ll add it to this fall’s recording list…
Sweet!
They were my first concert…or maybe it was the SOLAR Tour (Shalamar, Lakeside, Whispers)? You know, I cannot remember anymore…
either way, sounds like it was a great show
I do remember that Lakeside and Shalamar were fantastic. I thought one of the Dazz Band singers was hitting on my friend’s girl.
All is forgiven.
You keep carryin’ that anger, it’ll eat you up inside…
Thanks for this great jam by the Dazz Band. And a big compliment for the sound quality! Sounds like some things changed around here for the better!
Thanks Frank, yes, everything is going smoothly now. Knock on wood….
