The Brief:
Welcome to Fun With Vinyl 2011! Let’s get started shall we?
In 1988 at the “Book Nook” in Atlanta, GA, I picked up a “used” promo copy of the Dan Reed Network‘s self-titled CD. I immediately fell in love with the CD and played it over and over. The rock/funk sound of the band just blew me away. Years later, I picked up this 12″ while browsing in a used record store. It was still sealed. Always a great feeling for a crate-digger like me! Alas, “Get To You” didn’t achieve any chart success on the US Billboard charts. The remix on this 12″ was done by Timmy Regisford who has done remix work for many artists including Patti LaBelle, Steel Pulse, New Edition, Bobby Womack, Gladys Knight & the Pips, The Boys, Diana Ross, Gerald Alston and Stevie Wonder.
