The Brief:
In 1972, Bill Withers wrote and released “Lean On Me” as a single. The song reached #1 on the Billboard R&B and Pop singles charts. Club Nouveau recorded this cover of the song and saw it go to #1 on the Billboard Pop and Dance charts in 1987. Only nine songs in history have gone to #1 twice as recordings by two different artists. Bill Withers received a 1987 Grammy award for Best R&B Song as a result of Club Nouveau’s success with this single.

Will you be posting “Why You Treat Me So Bad?” as well?
crap, no, sorry, don’t have that one
Great one – thanks!
oooh!
I’m surprised this didn’t go #1 on the R&B charts~you remember who stopped them in 1987?
no I don’t, do you have the answer?
Brilliant song and version. One of those few cases where a cover shines on its own… Richie, keep up the good work!
thank you
