The A Side:
Soup For One (Theme Song From The Movie “Soup For One”) 7:58
The B Side:
Burn Hard 5:12
The Brief:
I don’t really have to tell readers of this blog about Chic’s accomplishments in the late 70’s during the heyday of disco. But, let’s do a little exercise in name dropping… The primary members of the band were Nile Rodgers, Bernard Edwards and Tony Thompson. During their time together as Chic and in later years after the band dissolved, they worked with many artists and produced untold hits. Here is a nowhere near complete list of names the band members worked with directly: Norma Jean Wright, Sister Sledge, Diana Ross, Carly Simon, Debbie Harry, Luther Vandross, David Bowie, Madonna, The Honeydrippers, The Power Station, Robert Palmer, Duran Duran, ABC, Jody Watley, Rod Stewart, Adam Ant, Nona Hendryx, Kim Carnes, INXS, Mick Jagger, Thompson Twins, Sheena Easton, Grace Jones, Al Jarreau, The B-52’s, Dan Reed Network, Eddie Murphy, Ric Ocasek, David Lee Roth… whew! There are many others but, time doesn’t permit going any further.

The early 80s’ Disco backlash was such a mindless witch-hunt and so unnecessary. I’m glad time has proven that the influence of Disco remains till this day.
And since we’re on Soup For One, would you happen to have the 12″ for Carly Simon’s Why as well?
I have that classic 12″ but a lossless rip would be the perfect answer!
No, don’t have the Carly, sorry. That’s the Chic produced track isn’t it?
Yes, and with backup vocals by the girls! It is one of George Michael’s favourites too and he performed it in one of his 90s cover concerts.
Anyway, listening to Soup for One now…memories! And I must say Modjo did well to sample it for Lady (Hear Me Tonight)
Thank you for the chic post
You’re welcome Danny
