The Brief:
Early in her music career, Cherrelle (nee Cheryl Anne Norton) toured with Luther Vandross as a backup singer. I saw Luther on his “Busy Body Tour” in late 83/early 84, wonder if she was with him then? She eventually caught the eye of Tabu Records and signed a recording contract. Cherrelle paired up with the production team of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to produce her debut album “Fragile“. Her first Top 10 R&B hit was this single, “I Didn’t Mean To Turn You On”.

Hi
Is this a Cherrelle ‘season’ or more ‘Joints’ from Jam + Lewis ?
Cherrelle posts for the rest of the month…
Cherrelle released so many strong singles, yet she didn’t have any solo Top 40 hits on the Hot 100. Criminal!
Love her collaboration with Jam & Lewis, with Everything I Miss At Home being the particular favourite.
This jam is awesome too, only have the album version so thanks for the 7″, Richie!
You’re welcome Ric
isn’t that song performed by Luther Vandross????
thank u for all the nice music!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Luther may have done a cover? I’m not sure…
Luther’s single is I Really Didn’t Mean It.
Robert Palmer is the one who covered I Didn’t Mean To Tun You On.
you are absolutely right!!
thanx a lot for the information and the very very very good music!!!!!!
Thank you!
You’re welcome Johan
