The Brief:
Bassist Mark Brown, renamed Brownmark by Prince, joined The Revolution in 1982 after the departure of Andre Cymone. He stayed with the band until 1986 when he left to pursue production work and solo recording. His most well known venture in the Prince-world was his work with the group Mazarati. He released two solo albums in 1988 & 1989 on Motown Records: ‘Just Like That’ and ‘Good Feeling’. Today’s post is a 12” promo release of the song “Next Time” from the ‘Just Like That’ LP.

Yo DDDDDDDJJJJJJJJJJ!!!
Been having a heck of a time trying to access yer posts on Firefox for some reason AAAARGH! (It takes me to the post then immediately switches to the previous & doesn’t give comment updates anymore—— so I got some figgerin’ out to do here lol) This post however was worth opening up my ancient Safari to get lol. Thanx so much for posting it- you know I’ve been waiting to check Brownmark’s cuts fer daaaays! Since I’m here, I can’t remember if I ever thanked you for the Morris Day fest———– I managed to get some before net trouble hit woot!
Anyhow——— thanks again Mang!
Reve, made some changes last night, see the main page, let me know if the changes resolved your Firefox problems
Hey D! Sorry for the delay replying (recovering from oral surg’)- I left a note on the bottom linked post where you said to move the convo. Might help for others for comparison too…. or not
Brownmark is the best!!!
enjoy Johan
Not the best Mpls track of it’s era….
…but I’m glad to see you (like myself) got every one of these 12″s just in case!
There were so many gems (Cherrelle, Alex O’neal, Tamara, The Family, Jesse Johnson, etc) the batting average was pretty darn high.
I own this, but hadn’t listened to it in 20+ years, great to hear it again, thanks!
you’re welcome
I’ve been having problems getting this file over the past couple of days too Richie, it keeps timing out, the best I’ve got is about 10%.
have you tried other files or is it just this one?
I’m having the same difficulties downloading the Mick Jagger 12″ too, and oddly enough the same problems on burningtheground today. Maybe it’s just me, although I’ve downloaded from other sources today also and not experienced any timeouts.
Actually, that you are experiencing the same problem at burningtheground tells me a lot. Paul and I both use GoDaddy for hosting so, that tells me that GoDaddy is experiencing problems. I wonder if Paul was notified like I was that his site has been moved to a new server? If so, then that leaves little doubt that the new server they moved us to is causing these download problems.
I’m actually having the same problem…I’ve been trying to DL this file since the 10th… & I also have the same problem on DJPaulT’s blog as well.
I have emailed GoDaddy and complained. You guys may want to make sure Paul knows about this, too. Perhaps if more site owners start complaining to GoDaddy, they will get it resolved.
I posted on his “Wiz” post…that I was having the same problem here & there.
cool, are you aware of anyone else that self-hosts files like Paul and I do? or do the other sites use file shares?
Sorry, all the other sites I go to use file shares.
I suspected that. I’d like to get folks over to this post to discuss the server issues: http://djrichiep.com/blog-performance-2/
