The Brief:
Released in 1984, Break Machine’s “Street Dance” entered the Billboard R&B charts on May 5, 1984.  It only managed to climb to #78 and spent 5 weeks on the chart.  It never entered the Hot 100 chart in the US but, did quite well in other countries to include reaching #11 in Italy, #3 in the UK and #1 in Sweden & Norway.  It was on Break Machine’s ‘Break Dance Party’ LP, also released in 1984.  “Street Dance was produced by Jacques Morali and Henri Belolo who were the team behind the Village People.  The track was written by Jacques Morali/Fred Zarr/Henri Belolo/Keith Rodgers.

    Oh my god, This is going right back to the heady days of being out in the back garden, spinning around on a large piece of cardboard, dressed in a very loud tracksuit thinking I was just as good as the breakdancers on TV when I so obvoiusly wasn’t. Great post.
