The Brief:
The first of two singles from Apollonia 6′s “debut” album in 1984. “Sex Shooter” was featured in the movie ‘Purple Rain’, Prince’s 1984 movie blockbuster. It debuted on the Billboard R&B Singles chart on 9/29/84 and spent 14 weeks there rising to #19. Over on the Billboard Hot 100, it entered the charts on 10/20/84 at #89. It spent 6 weeks on the Hot 100 getting only as high as #85. Songwriting credits on the record are attributed to Apollonia 6… yeah, right!
