The Brief:
A childhood friend of Prince, Andre Cymone figured prominently in Prince’s early career. The two were members of their first band, Grand Central which later became Champagne and included Morris Day as a member. After Prince got a record deal with Warner Brothers Records, he recruited Andre for his touring band. Andre remained with Prince until 1981 when tensions between the two prompted Andre to pursue a solo career. In 1982, his first solo LP, ‘Livin’ In The New Wave’, was released on Columbia Records.
