The Brief:
In 1988, Alexander O’Neal and the Flyte Tyme Production crew went into the studio and laid down a Christmas album that was released as ‘My Gift To You’. The album contained six original compositions by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis along with some traditional Christmas classics. One of those classics and one of those originals are featured on this promo 12″ in their original album versions along with an instrumental of each song. The album reached #149 on the Billboard 200 and #54 on the Hot Black Albums chart at the time of its release. ** The times listed on the labels for the instrumental tracks are incorrect, each instrumental is around 3:30 long.

My Gift To You is one of the very few christmas albums I actually listen to, both classic and modern (at the time), classy production and Alex’s vocals. Have loved it since it came out (but disappointed a friend by giving it to him as a present…), nice to hear the instrumentals.
